BDMLAX Summer and Fall Lacrosse Information

BDM LAX develops great lacrosse players by focusing on skills, drills, demanding team play, and tournament opportunities.

Over the past three years:

  • We have worked with the IA league MVP runner up, over a dozen All-League players, and nearly 2 dozen All-District players.
  • These players have led their teams to District Championships and State Championship contests.
  • We have had 5 players selected for the U.S. Lacrosse Women's Division National Tournament.
  • Examples of rising stars from last year's Fall Ball program include Jenn Doyle (Coral Shores, 44 goals, 1st Team All-District after one season of Fall Ball), The Casariego Twins (went from 7th grade beginners to high school varsity starters at Palmer Trinity after one season of Fall Ball).
  • We have 5 players simultaneously playing for Florida's Premier Club Lacrosse Program, LaxManiax - 100% of the players we recommended to that program made their team tryout.

Summer:

• We are having 3 open practice "Summer Lacrosse Days" on: June 26th, July 10th & August 14th.

• THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO COST FOR THESE PRACTICES (We just need to know that you are coming in advance and need your US Lacrosse number)

• Location: Ron Ehmann Park, 10995 SW 97 Ave, Miami, FL 33176. Time: 1 PM until 4 PM.

• Be sure to bring your lax buddies and learn some great new skills at our first Summer Lacrosse Day on June 26th!

• Any level of skill is welcome:

  • Skills and age appropriate activities planned for Grades K-12.
  • If you are an elite player, you will find a challenging level of play and training
  • If you are not a member of US Lacrosse: We can sign up new players at the field ($25 if under 15, $35 if under 19 - you get a great magazine! The membership is required for insurance purposes)

• As always:

  • Solid skills are emphasized and bad habits discouraged.
  • We work as much on LAX IQ and field view....
  • As we do on stick skills, conditioning, drills & scrimmage play.

• It's hot on Saturday afternoons in the summer:

  • Be sure to come to the field adequately hydrated and have plenty of cold fluids available.
  • We play in the rain, unless there is lightening in the area.

Fall League:

• We will have two divisions (same as last year) based primarily on skill level: Academy & Elite

• We have many Summer and Fall tournament opportunities in Florida: Heatwave (Jacksonville 7/17-19), Back-To-School (Orlando 9/12), Florida Draw (Boynton Beach 9/25-26), Cradle For The Cure (Flagler Beach, 10/2-3), Pumpkin Challenge (Orlando 10/30), Wishbone (Jacksonville 11/19-21). Let us know which ones you are interested in when you register!

• Tournament costs depend largely upon whether player's parents accompany them to provide transportation and hotel room, but recent costs for the 2-day Wishbone were: $75 tournament fee, $25 for Game Jersey, $50 for transportation, $50 for hotel, plus meals.

• Our practice date and times will be the following Saturdays from 1 PM until 4 PM at Ron Ehmann Park:

  • August 21, 28; September: 4, 11, 18, 25; October 2, 9, 16, 23, 30; November 6, 13, 20

Registration & Cost:

  • You should register by June 1: $200.00 (You can hold you spot with just $50 and work with summer fundraisers and apply for financial assistance if necessary).
  • Late Registration: $225.00.
  • Cost includes 14 sessions and BDM Lacrosse T-Shirt, Shorts, Sweatshirt, Pinny.
  • Second year girls receive a shooting shirt and a stick bag ($75.00 extra for 1st year girls)
